Chaosium and Studio Agate announced today the first major official campaign for the nautical 7th Sea TTRPG, The Price of Arrogance, will launch on Kickstarter at Gen Con.

From the publisher: Imagine Indiana Jones meets Pirates of the Caribbean, with a touch of Treasure Island… Adventurers will embark on an extraordinary journey, from the imperial courts of Montaigne to the sweltering jungles of the New World. A quest across Terra, fraught with pitfalls and mortal dangers, will pit Heroes against some of the most dangerous enemies to be found on the seven seas. They may discover priceless treasures… but they should be careful to keep their pride in check, for they may well pay the price of arrogance!

This campaign for 7th Sea is a 300-page full-color book featuring an epic saga in three acts and a host of gameplay options, including Paths, a system that allows each Game Master to tailor the story to their favorite play style. The book is already both written and illustrated, and a Kickstarter campaign will be launched at Gen Con 2024 to offer a collector’s edition including many additional items:

  • a collection of extra adventures for the full Director’s Cut experience
  • a dedicated game screen
  • numerous game aids (maps, handouts, etc.),
  • plus a box exclusive to this campaign.

Two collector’s versions of The Price of Arrogance will be available: Montaigne and Pirate. The Montaigne edition features an alternative cover design while the Pirate edition comes in black faux leather, similar to the collector’s core rule book that was offered during the original 7th Sea Kickstarter campaign.

The standard edition of The Price of Arrogance will be available in retail distribution in 2025. For players new to 7th Sea, the Kickstarter campaign will also offer core books to get started.
