New Stormlight Roleplaying Game Will Adapt Entirety Of Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere

Brotherwise Games and Dragonsteel are thrilled to announce that the Stormlight Roleplaying Game has secretly been the Cosmere Roleplaying Game all along! The Cosmere RPG is a “living RPG” that will grow as Brandon Sanderson writes new novels and expands his universe. This original system is designed to tell standalone stories in the Stormlight or Mistborn settings – or sweeping Worldhopper campaigns that move between different worlds and realms.

From the earliest stages of development, Brandon Sanderson and the Brotherwise team knew they wanted to create a complete Cosmere RPG. The system was purpose-built to encompass different worlds, technology levels, and magic systems. With the magic of “Investiture” at the heart of the system, players can become a Knight Radiant, a Mistborn, and eventually even an Elantrian, Awakener, or Worldhopper.

The Kickstarter launches with two campaign settings: Stormlight and Mistborn. Each covers every book written so far in those series, and will grow with new books. The three hardcover Stormlight books will ship in September 2025, with Mistborn books following in 2026.

Every Cosmere RPG game uses the same cohesive system, featuring a d20-based core mechanic packed with innovation like plot dice, flexible talent trees, skill-based magic, and character-driven rewards.

The campaign also offers two unique adventures, both written in close partnership with Brandon Sanderson and best-selling author Dan Wells. The Stonewalkers campaign puts characters in control of key events that lead into the fifth novel in the epic series, Wind and Truth. The upcoming Mistborn Legacy adventure presents a story that spans two eras. Chapters weave between the Final Empire, an age of cataclysmic darkness, and Harmony’s Scadrial, an era of prosperity and technological innovation. Along the way, characters will solve a mystery with implications for the world’s future.

The pledge tiers are broken down into five levels:

  • E-Reader, $60: A Digital PDF of the Stormlight World Guide and a PDF of the Mistborn World Guide
  • Reader, $95: Physical Editions of the Stormlight World Guide and Mistborn World Guide
  • Player, $195: Includes everything in the Reader tier plus the Stormlight Handbook, Mistborn Handbook, Stormlight Basic Dice Set, and a Plot Deck
  • The GM, $295: Includes everything in the Player tier plus Stormlight GM Screen, Stonewalkers Adventure, Mistborn Legacy Adventure, Level Zero Guide, Adventure Maps Pack, Item & NPC Cards, Punchboard Tokens, and Demiplane Sourcebooks
  • Collector, $385: Includes everything in the GM tier plus Stormlight Liquid Dice and Stormlight Minis Pack

Backers can also choose any combination of rewards through Add-Ons, which will be available in the campaign’s BackerKit pledge manager. These Add-Ons include digital rewards from partners like Fantasy Grounds, Roll20, Demiplane, and DriveThruRPG. The campaign launched today on Kickstarter and will run through August 29.
