Doctor Who Trailer Drops and I’m a Glass Case of Emotions

What’s that line from Titanic that’s been memeified to death? It’s been 84 years? It sure feels like it, and even though we were recently told by the showrunner that we’re indeed getting a holiday special in 2019, a whole year without any new Who is too danged long. But now we finally have a trailer for the upcoming seasons and I’m beyond excited.

A quick breakdown shows the Fam back together and adventuring through time and space once again. We already knew the Judoon were coming back, and it’s nice to see the return of the Cybermen mixed in with several new creatures including a giant and very fast Scorpion-like creature. Also worrisome is the new knowledge that at least one entity seems to have the ability to force its way into the TARDIS, which, yikes.

More interesting is that this trailer seems to hint at an actual series arc this season which was lacking in the last. Something is after the Doctor, we’re told. Could this have any link to the Timeless Child mentioned previously? And what new dangers are the Fam facing? We can guess that the mention of Paris, 1943 will probably play into the previously fandom-deduced historical figure of British World War II heroine Noor Inayat Khan (look out for That’s Haram! to talk about this episode once it airs). Seeing as episodes “Rosa” and “Demons of the Punjab” were some of the most poignant and effective of season 11, we have reason to be excited for the look at Khan in season 12.

That said, there are plenty of surprises in store for us knowing Doctor Who, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for Team TARDIS/The Fam.
