The holidays are upon us yet again, which means plenty of gatherings with friends and family in the months to come. To help break the ice and have some fun in between hefty meals and gift swaps, we’ve gotten together some of our favorite new games perfect for whatever your needs are.
Trash Talk
While the holidays are by no means a time for trash, it IS a time when you’ve got to make sure your communication skills are at their best. Put them to the test in this fun game of word association that challenges you to figure out what goes where. The cool thing about the game is the titular “trash” is a selection of objects included in the box that allow for plenty of debate and interpretation.
DaDaDa
It’s a word game without the words! In a really fun spin on this popular genre, DaDaDa has players put down sounds and then images to go with those sounds. As you go, your words will get longer and the sounds will get sillier until everyone just starts speaking in nonsense.
Sling It!
Need something a little more physical? Try Sling It!, a new game from the creator of Bop It! which has you sling sausages at a slatted board in the hopes of getting the high score. It’s got a little bit of corn hole, a little bit of darts, and a little bit of axe throwing all mixed together to create a kind of crazy game perfect for working off holiday meals.
Things In Rings
Things In Rings is a unique game all about Venn Diagrams. Players work together to put different “Things” into each part of the diagram, the “Rings.” Not only are you working to get the right associations you’re also working around the secret rule of the ring that only one person knows.
Mind Map
Mind Map is a fun twist on “guess the word” party game by making not your partners guess a secret word but an opponent. It’s a little bit daunting using the big chart to make the associations work but once you do there’s a lot of fun mind games to be had getting your opponents to make the right choice to get you on your way to victory.
