House of Fire & Blood – Episode 21 “Pay No Attention to the Conical Westeros Behind the Mask”

This entry is part 21 of 47 in the series House of Fire & Blood

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the TV series being covered here wouldn’t exist.

Sorry for the delay! Gretchen’s computer was in for repairs and they were out on vacation for the week. Hope you all were still able to access the podcast through your favorite podcatcher app in the meantime.

What if George R. R. Martin’s Fire and Blood was written more like HBO’s House of the Dragon? Caroline and Gretchen analyze Martin’s work from this perspective and search for hidden stories in the text.

This week Caroline and Gretchen continue their analysis of Fire & Blood with the tenth chapter chapter, Jaehaerys and Alysanne: Their Triumphs and Tragedies Section 1. Rhaena Targaryen wanders the rainy countryside searching for Aerea, while Jaehaerys buckles down on projects that were totally only his idea and Alysanne is not at all involved! Oh yeah, and there’s a new heir presented to the smallfolk Lion-King-Style!
