Hit Point Press has announced the launch of Humblewood: Beyond the Canopy, a standalone sequel to their Humblewood Campaign Setting, which lets players explore a world inhabited by Animal and Birdfolk rather than standard fantasy races. Humblewood: Beyond the Canopy goes past the edges of the Wood to discover the continent of Wesden through a lush setting guide and globe-trotting adventure. It will be compatible with 5e (2014 rules) and feature art from talented artists from the first book and artists new to the world of Everden. This book, like all Hitpoint Press publications, is created without the use of AI.

Uncover frozen mysteries in the Crystal Expanse, ride the mighty gargaths across the plains of Firnveldt, find a warm welcome in warrens away from the tempests that shake Stormcrag, and feel the pulse of nature in the verdant Tanglewilds.

This 250+ page sourcebook does not require the original Humblewood Campaign Setting to play, but seasoned Humblewood players can easily continue their adventure from the first book. Humblewood: Beyond the Canopy will be compatible with the 5e (2014) core rules with support for 5e+ (2024) core rules.

Inside, you can find a setting guide to the continent of Wesden with four new regions to explore and a new religion section with new gods and folktales, expanded player options including new races, subclasses, backgrounds, and spells, and an original adventure that takes characters from level 5 to level 8.

Also includes three sublclasses for The Gadgeteer: The Cultivator, who shapes plants into helpful forms, The Engineer, who builds exactly what you need in a pinch, and The Fizzar, who blurs the boundaries of science and magic.

  • Divided into two castes, the sheeplike highly social tethera, and the goatlike independent yantan, the Capran are in touch with the long history of their clans and have the stubbornness to achieve their goals no matter what
• Eluran
  • Based on cats big and small, the purring moon elurans, and the roaring sun elurans form a complex civilization where social etiquette rubs up alongside fierce independence 
• Mustel
  • Rare folk based on mustelids (weasels, ferrets, mink, wolverines, badgers) who excel in the wilderness, they are split into the powerful brightfangs and the elegant longdances.
• Seeta
  • Imposing, brightly feathered parrotfolk with talents for mimicry and getting into trouble when they’re bored
• Sylph
  • Based on hummingbirds, these tiny, feisty birdfolk follow their wanderlust and live their lives a mile-a-minute
• Tilia
  • Exuberant lizard folk who are skilled at alchemy, art, and political intrigue

A Brand New Humblewood Adventure

While the first book’s adventure is focused on Humblewood itself, this new adventure takes you on a wild chase across the entire continent of Wesden. Following the emergence of the Aspect of Fire in Humblewood, now adventures must uncover the mysteries of the Aspect of Water and what happened to it long ago. Klaythusar, an ancient evil, is released. As he attempts to complete his grand and terrible plans to use the Aspect of Water, he causes a terrible storm that freezes and batters Wesden.

The adventure for levels 5-8 links into the story of the adventure from the Humblewood Campaign Setting, but can be played without having played that adventure first. It continues the environmental themes and moral complexity explored in the first Humblewood book.
