New Kingdom Hearts 3 Trailer Reveals Frozen, Tragic Spoiler

We all knew it was coming to Kingdom Hearts 3, but finally seeing Frozen in action was a pleasure. The level looks beautiful, the keyblade is easily my favorite of those we’ve seen, and the combo ice skates and hand knives were one of my favorite weapon transformations. Elsa, Anna, and Olaf all appear, though I’m helpless with voice acting and have no idea if that’s Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel or not. I’ll also leave it to Frozen fans to analyze Elsa’s guilt-ridden dialogue.

Although, seriously Sora? You’re that amazed by someone controlling ice? Do you not remember all the magic you wield, including ice?

Thankfully they’re not the only characters with dialogue! In a welcome surprise, we also saw clips of cutscenes featuring Rapunzel and Hercules, which was amazing. There was also plenty of cool gameplay, including gummi ship gameplay, a fiery Simba summons, and level exploration featuring Rapunzel’s assistance. It all looks fantastic as ever. And then the trailer ended with a dark Aqua presumably possessed by Xehanort.

I have very mixed feelings about this reveal. Mainly because I don’t want to see Aqua suffer like this (isn’t her story tragic enough already), I also wonder just why they’d show this off now? Is it really so minor a spoiler that they can show this off in a trailer? The main characters of Birth By Sleep are damn near as important as Sora and Riku, so finding out one of these characters has succumbed to darkness in this manner kind of sucks. I just want her, Ventus, and Terra to be happy.

Hopefully, we’ll find out when Kingdom Hearts 3 releases on January 29, 2019. That’s right! We have a release date! I can’t wait to finally get my hands on this game. Square Enix doesn’t have to lift a single finger further to sell me on it. The hype is in maximum overdrive at this point.
