Sartorial Splendor Spotlight: Trusted nose

We’re back with the newest Splendor Splendor Spotlight installment, profiling members of various lifestyle communities across the web! Whether it be fragrances, fashion, makeup, watches, shoes… we’re going to spotlight folks we’ve been following who you ought to know! This month’s profile is also no stranger to Sartorial Splendor, as Trusted Nose has guested with me on the podcast discussing fragrances.

Who Am I?

I’m Trusted nose, and you can find me on my YouTube channel or on my Instagram account!

How did you become interested in fragrance?

I became interested in fragrance through the influence of my father. When I was a little boy, I really wanted to be like him, so I would copy some of his mannerisms and pick up on a few of his interests like football.

He had a great fragrance collection which contained all the new popular releases I would see adverts for on the TV at the time. Whenever I used to go into my parent’s room, I’d be in awe and wonder why he had so many.

Eventually, I began to sneak a few sprays before primary school and that is when the fascination began.

What do you think is most important to consider when choosing the right fragrance for you?

I think the most important criteria to consider when choosing the right fragrance for me is the smell. I want to genuinely enjoy the smell of the fragrance, not just be internalising ‘the hype’ and what everyone around you deems as good. I want to really enjoy my purchase.

Another important thing to consider is the feeling the fragrance evokes. This is because fragrance is an extension of your character and the aura. The right fragrance can help you achieve the version of yourself wish to convey to the world.

What are some of your other sartorial hobbies and why?

I am a huge Arsenal FC fan. Before the Covid pandemic, I would often watch Arsenal play at our home ground Emirate Stadium, or ‘The Carpet’ as some of my fellow Gooners would call it (because the pitch is so well kept), as it not too far from where I live.

I have a few of their jerseys as well as memorabilia. Over the years, I’ve built up a good collection of Arsenal-related items.

“When in Rome…” What is a location in your city that a sartorial fan can’t miss if visiting?

As cliché as it sounds, Central London is a must-visit in London. That’s because there is so much to see and do there. For example, you can go to the Houses of Parliament, visit the London Eye, Madame Tussauds, Hyde Park… the list goes on.

What is one sartorial tip you’d like to share with our readers?

It is a marathon, not a race! Do not be in a rush and end up going broke trying to keep up with the Joneses. Start small and eventually you will achieve your collection goal naturally without taking huge financial hits in one go.

Future Projects:

After I am done exploring popular niche brands, I’m planning to discover more creative indie brands that deserve recognition for the offerings they are producing. I’ll continue to grow my collection a bit more so I can confidently put out better content and give better suggestions to those who would like recommendations.

The Favorites List

Favorite fragrance brands:

Initio and Parfums De Marly

 Favorite clothing brands:

Nike

 Favorite shoe brands:

Nike, especially Air Jordan in particular.

Other favorite sartorial brands:

Even though I am not big into watches, I am a fan of the Rolex brand and its offerings.

The one sartorial item I can’t live without is…

Fragrance of course!
