The Season 8 Carols Announcement: Voting Officially Opens!

Just a couple of short months after Game of Thrones season 8, and it has nabbed all the Emmy nominations money can buy. As a figure of speech, of course. This record-breaking achievement, spear-headed by showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss sure tells us one thing about awards shows: we need even more ways to celebrate the greatness that is Game of Thrones. The Emmys, and all those other stupid shows, can’t possibly capture everything!

Well, luckily for everyone, we here at The Fandomentals have already planned for this, with our 4th [sort of] Annual Carol Awards (in memoriam of our Good Queen Carol)! This one is focused entirely on the epicness of Season 8, which may be worth brushing up on if you’ve forgotten parts of it (or tried to block it out). What exactly are the Carol Awards? Why it’s an awards show crafted specifically around everyone’s favorite prime-time television show, with dramatically satisfying categories such as The Finest Fanservice AwardThe Best Military Tactic, and of course now that we’re through the finale, The Most Earned Endgame Position. This hyper-focus allows each moment to shine, just like Carol herself!

But enough chit-chat, let’s VOTE already! If you feel prepared, you can get your official ballot here. Share with friends; share with family; share with annoyed co-workers who really don’t want to hear you mention again that R+L=J mattered most to Ned’s arc actually. You’ll have until Sunday, July 28th at 10pm EST to vote…exactly 10 weeks from when season 8 concluded, which is significant because it reminds us of how needlessly rushed everything was.

So get on to it, because while we may not choose whom we love, we can certainly choose who we honor with nice, shiny trophies, at the most prestigious awards show possible.
