First Trailer for Jessica Jones Season 2 Dives Deep into Her Past

Always lingering in the background throughout the excellent first season of Jessica Jones was the question of how Jessica got her powers. We got some raw details; her family was in a crash, and whatever was done to save Jessica resulted in her powers. Trish went further to acquire a file from her mother providing more answers on the company responsible (the same company responsible for Simpson’s superman drug). Still, there are so many more questions for both the audience and Jessica to discover.

Based on this trailer, we’re not only going to get those answers, but we will probably get them with the same high quality of the amazing premiere season.

Why does this trailer look so good? Because it’s still all about Jessica in all the right ways. While the trauma from her time under Kilgrave’s influence certainly dominated her mindset, it was not the only trauma in Jessica’s life, and with Kilgrave dead Jessica can hopefully start to unpack what must be a considerable survivor’s guilt over the crash claiming her family and the powers she gained as a result.

Jessica is still Jessica here. She’s still the snarky, vulnerable badass with a strong eye for uncovering the truth while simultaneously burying her own. The key component of what made Jessica Jones’s first season so good was how effectively and respectively it approached her attempts to avoid and recover from what Kilgrave did to her. Thankfully season 2 looks like it will do the same with the other major trauma in her life, and that is GREAT news. Not to say Kilgrave is gone from her mind entirely, as seen from the final shot of the trailer, and that’s even better. He shouldn’t just vanish from her life like that. His death does not resolve everything she struggled with throughout the first season.

Dare we hope, Jessica Jones might just do everything right yet again. I’ll be there to watch when it hits Netflix on March 8.
